"Salt & Light" has come across my mind, desk again..
Jesus says I ~ We.. are to be salt and light. Just what does that mean? and How do we do that?
Am I a *salty* Christian? Do I give *light*? hmmm
What is the Impression or Impact of Salt or Light?
Ever really think on that? Yes & No.. :-)
SALT: Preserves, Changes, Flavors, Penetrates (doesn't take much), creates Thirst, possibly for peace, assurance, security. In thinking of cooking It Spreads till everything in the bowl / pan has taste..
And it surely Impacts everything, so what is the Salt that Impacts... Life...
Impacts.. Character, Conduct, Conversation.
LIGHT: Jesus in our life becomes the Light. Jesus said "you are the salt & light of the world!"
LIGHT points the way, reveals things, even a small light can. Light dispels darkness. Light refreshes. We determine how bright we shine, Jesus is THE Way, Truth, & Life. Are we sticking close to Him and His Word and allowing Him to shine thru?
IF we Look like, Sound like, and Smell like the world, they won't be a bit uncomfortable around us. IF we compromise in our lives, our church, it cuts the LIGHT sooo low it can't be seen. We draw no one to the Lord, our Salt has lost its working capabilities.
We ought to brighten up *something* wherever we are, and salt *something* too...
When sin enters life, it darkens our globe. We need to make sure our light is bright and our salt has not lost it's flavor.
Are we more interested in the souls & godliness of family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, or just their acceptance?
Just a few thoughts on Salt & Light.
