God's Great "IF" ..

Devotional Passage.. 2 Chronicles 7: 11 & following.
Focus..  v. 14

We have read & no doubt quoted this verse a lot.
But... have we dissected it? applied it? really thought about it?
                     "IF"
             MY people
that are called by MY name
shall humble themselves
   AND Pray
   AND seek MY face
AND turn from THEIR wicked ways
             THEN
   will I hear from heaven
AND will forgive THEIR sin
AND will heal their land.   (Thus sayeth the Lord.)

God is saying that how goes our land, is in the hands of Christians, taking honest stock of our lives and repenting of our sins. WOW!
A dear friend once said that as we stand before the Lord on the day of accountability... "will our answers to Him hold water?"  ouch!
We seem to have abdicated our responsibility in many area's of our lives. Have we not? Or maybe we don't want to be held accountable even by God.
Have we been obedient to the Lord and followed His directions, written plainly in the Bible, for living life as a child of his? A King's Kid? Sometimes that might be a little difficult, but if we are looking for 'easy' I don't seem to be able to find that word or street anywhere in the Bible.
Do we allow the Holy Spirit living within us to 'check' our motives, actions, responses, so that Christ in us can be seen, felt, desired? Does our 'talk' & 'walk' match up?
How is it in our families?
Living in our neighborhoods, are we good neighbors.
Living in the land are we good citizens... obeying the rules.. taking part by being informed, voting, and deciding according to the things that God would accept or not... Do we know what hurts the heart of God most?
Can we honestly say..." THY will be done?" not my will, but yours Lord...
As Father looks down from heaven, do you think he might be saying... "How's that working for you?"  really?
"What does MY BOOK say?" "That's what I say child."
"What's going to matter in the scheme of Eternity?" hmmmm
    IFFFFF MY People......
Some of God's promises contain a great "IF." God Calls US to a family meeting, lays out His expectations, and tells us what He will do in response to OUR actions.
God promised Solomon and the people He would forgive their unfaithfulness when they sought forgiveness in a humble and persistent manner.
THEN He would send rain to end the drought.

God will keep his promises to us. However, some of those promises will require our obedience to God's great "IF."
Thank you Father for Your mercy.
