L.I.G.H.T. Spring Banquet 4/2012

Ladies Intentionally Going Helping Touching
"Something for Him, Something for Others, Something for Us"

My this has truly been some afternoon! The gals in leadership have outdone themselves with vision, decorations, program, and love abounding.

If you come to F.B.C. of Griffith and do not avail yourselves of the L.I.G.H.T. Ministry you are missing one whole heck of a lot that Jesus wants to share with you and bless you with.

As usual, there was an abundance of amazing food and fellowship in the fellowship hall. Getting acquainted with some new folks, and enjoying the long time members was fun for me also.

Then we went upstairs to the Worship center, and had a time of listening to some great interviews of gals from their 20's to their 80's... That is a wide range.. and yet ALL love Jesus, and build their lives around Him.
Denise had some scripture reading and gave a short challenge...
We had some music... sooo good gang!
Then Sandy introduced us to the Naomi - Ruth Scholarship Fund begun in honor of Phyllis Prater. Phyllis has gone on home to be with the Lord. And as her life and love touched ALL of First Baptist in so many different ways... There could not have been a better choice.  Tammy and Jessica spoke to the person she was and how she impacted their lives. Phyllis was truly an amazing, creative, gentle, loving soul to all. I remember her fondly so often and the touch she had on me. No one was left out of Phyllis' loving reach. Then Jessica read Wesley's  Rule that was found in Phyllis' Bible..
"Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the places you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can."  This was the sum of her life and legacy.  The fund will help anyone to go to the annual Women's retreat that cannot make it on their own.. How wonderful is that! As Mallory sang another song, Ladies were asked to take a Rose from the vase, be it a bud or in bloom as to who/where we think we are.
    Mentoring will begin....
Then Denise shared Jeremiah 31:3 and Jeremiah 29:11 closing with the Gospel presentation and Prayer.
Truly a day of "Something for Him, Something for Others, Something for Us."

Spirit has been lifted, Tears shed, Memories recalled, challenge before us, and always seeing the hand of God moving... Thank You Jesus!
