What shall my New year hold? Be?

  Do you ever wonder about things? Does your mind "meander" like mine? Sometimes it is a fun time in Meanderland, and other times it is sad, disturbing, confusing, or just a day of *wondering* as I meander.
  We get these 2 wonderful magazines at our church. Chocked full of great things.. and I have been blessed to get them for years. And pass them on to share. One is called "Mature Living" and the other is "Home Life." So by the titles you *might* be able to guess the way in which each would go. I enjoy reading the simple receipes, do the puzzles, and oh the Articles.. From A to Z in a persons life.
  This month 2 just grabbed me. Simple yet profound and challenging.. One from each magazine, and I shall try to shorten to the few statements that grabbed me. And the answer to my Questioning Title. :-)
  The World does New Years resolutions and breaks them and seldom really changes.
But in Mature Living was this one page short article in the Life Well Lived section titled... "Creating a To-Be List" from the Beatitudes.
My dear friend Florence O'Rear called the Beatitudes... "Beautiful Attitudes".. and this was soooo long ago.. Wonder if she remembers? No doubt they were ingrained in her life for sure. The writer Steve Rogers asked, "If you made a New Years resolution to be more like Christ, what would your list include."  Great Question!! Then says that Jesus gives us a great list in the Beatitudes--- the attitudes that ought to be:
be a peacemaker, be merciful, & be hungry and thirsty for righteousness. He suggests that a lot of bad things in our lives could be averted if we concentrated first on being and second on doing.  In the Sermon o the Mount, Matthew chapter 5, Jesus gives usa great to-be list. Additional *attitudes* that ought to be found in Ephesians 4:32 & 5:38 This year in all we aspire to do, what do we aspire to be?
Now that is the question. 

THEN in "Home Life" magazine in the menofhonor section... Walk This Way and Following Jesus .. great, short & to the Point.

   Like the disciples, walk with the Rabbi.
If we want to truly be the best, then follow the One who is unmatched!  Following Jesus: Walk in His Steps.

1. Being a disciple includes loyalty to Jesus. What He supports, we support. What He opposes, we oppose.
2. When you are His disciple, you care about what God says. His Word becomes dear to you, and and you daily feed on the Scriptures to grow and follow Him.
3. Knowing that Jesus chose you makes you thankful for His graciousness.
4. As a disciple, we practice His presence daily. We don't want to miss Him for even a day.
5. A disciple trusts his master. Ask God to help you trust Him daily and to reflect Him in your life.

Thanks to Jason & Eric for keeping profound things to me simple to latch onto. Much in my heart always.... but sometimes at a loss on how to state things well... :-)
   Here's to a New Year of better being and then doing.
