Yes I do save things!! haha

I save all sorts of things pertaining to faith, church, living life... ya never know when I might need a refresher course.. ha ha

So I came across this recently going through my stash of stuff, and it was published in our Indiana Baptist magazine in March of 1996!  It was posted in our Church Newsletter that following June.
  Think Like A Great Church
*Smallness is a state of mind.
*Great churches share these common characteristics:

Conservative Theology -  Great churches love God's precious word. God's Word is the standard and guide for living!
Strong Pastoral Leadership - Great churches honor the roll of the Senior Pastor and follow his leadership.
Participatory Worship - Great churches spend time singing, and sharing and preaching; it features songs besides the hymns, that were usually written after 1980; it gives freedom to the participants to give biblical expressions of worship; it uses many musical instruments.
Life Centered Bible Teaching - Great churches focus on application of God's Word rather than teaching only biblical content.
Powerful Prayer - Great churches pray and see God answer their praying to specific intercessory prayer.
Freedom of the Holy Spirit - Great churches celebrate the personal work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is released to accomplish signs and wonders to cause the world to stand in awe of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Generous Giving - Great churches give generous tithes and offerings to provide the resources for growing ministries, staff support, expanding facility development and involvement in world missions.
Spiritual Gifts - Great churches teach people about spiritual gifts and facilitate the exercise of the gifts through the local church's ministry.
Articulate the Mission - Great churches have a large portion of their people verbally sharing the mission of the church.
   Remember... Indiana Baptist Magazine... 1996!!

Food for thought... What say ye?
How are we doing at First Baptist of Griffith, as a church and as an individual member of that church? hmmmm
In my life I have found that there is *always* room for improvement in myself. Yes even at this late date. :-)
Especially in the effort to attempt great things for God & His Kingdom and  always attempt to be a part of solutions rather than
a part of any problem... :-)
and that makes me smile.

I've ALWAYS thought this was a Great Church, and I'm more convinced again... We are well on our way ~ and with God's divine help and power, she shall become ALL that He desires and more than we ever dreamed of... by our obedience, Going, Telling, Teaching, Training, Sharing, Giving, Loving, working as one body, and each part doing their part, and a little bit more :-)
        Praise the Lord!!
