Today on Facebook we were challenged to post the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and Not care what people thought... sooo I did, then as comments were posted many 'new' thoughts ran through my mind.
I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America... our Flag represents our nation, our country, us. Oh say can you see how long she has waved over home, or battlefield, capitol, ship at sea, or grave... the list could go on.
....our Allegiance to America.. our support, our very lives, our honor, our homes, our finances, etc. Our Forefathers did...
....... and to the Republic, for which that flag stands.. not a democracy, but a Republic.. in which the supreme power was meant to rest in the hands of its citizens that are entitled to vote, exercised by representatives elected directly or indirectly. A state or nation with a president as its titular head... hmmm My oh my have some things strayed.
One Nation under God....(note NO coma between nation & under) Our Nation to be Under God, one nation made up of many self governing states of many peoples, with God as our ultimate head.. I then thought that maybe the only offensive phrase was "under God." But why would that upset us? To be under His Care.. He who created us, (who is even mentioned in the Preamble to our constitution, remember) He loves us and following His guidelines as our Forefathers did.. surely can't hurt us, we call out to Him in times of trouble, in war and peace, and I am told there are NO atheists in foxholes. God who allowed me to be born in a free nation, a beautiful country, with the privilege and choice to love and serve Him or not.. I prefer to Love, serve, and obey my heavenly Father above all else.
Indivisible... are we? people have tried to divide us on many issues...for many reasons, yet UNITED we still stand!
with liberty and justice for all... that is beginning to fade in some instances... but I will still work and pray toward that always being true.
Do we still believe? Will we stand up?
So many said yeah~ We said that every morning in school, and others said they still do.. but so many times, after awhile, we repeat things with out really knowing or realizing what we are saying. It becomes rote repetition..
IFFF you ever really want a great recitation of the pledge and explanation... go to youTube and hunt for Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance. WOW!... Let's not let Our Pledge, Our Songs, Our prayers ever get to be rote repetition...
