Where to begin.. We've had 3, yes I said 3, Thanksgiving dinners... and enjoyed each.
Our church went to a hall to be able to accommodate a large crowd as you can see in the picture above. Food was great, and we had assigned tables, another good thing, tho I had hoped for some newer people to meet. Ah well, maybe next year. Rich and a few of our folks supplied music and Pastor spoke to us briefly. Yup a good time together as the "Family of God." Thankful for those that put in the time and work to make it happen!
Then we had family at our place on Turkey Day.. but no turkey! We chose other goodies. By the time everyone brought something the Supply of Food was quite bountiful!! (and delicious) All 3 of our children were there, the girls & mates, and some of their kids, and our son. We had surprise guests also, a step-grandkid we had not seen in years with his wife. Home from the military base! How good that was! Some had soooooo many "family" places to hit they opted to go there Turkey day, but SENT goodies for us to eat anyway, How good is that???
Then the next evening grandkids came, unhindered by other commitments, to visit and help finish the leftovers, and we enjoyed 2 of our great grandchildren to pieces! They had their naps this day too!! lol
Those that didn't make it we missed terribly but... I'll not cry over spilt milk as they say. I am going to dwell on the good fine things! Of which there is much!!!
To Live in a free land, able to come and go and worship as we please.
To laugh with each other rather than at ! (That takes practice.) :-)
To have folks care about "what's happening?"
To have family that loves you, warts and all, accepts you where you are, and encourages you to climb higher.
To have family to take the time to make things and send it, even tho they wouldn't be coming.
To have family come back a second day.
To have a church that stresses love and thankfulness, & giving.
To have good neighbors.
To have a roof over our heads, food on the table and a bed to sleep in.
To be having new life in the family, one great grandchild due soon, and another next year..
To enjoy the sky, sunrises, sunsets, the birds chirping merrily along, and even that pesky squirrel that tries to get the bird suet!! (he/she keeps me hopping!)
To have medicine and Dr.'s to fix things.
(We are the bionic couple now, Bud's new back & shoulder, and my new hip.)
To be able to move, take care of ourselves and help another soul here and there.
To have a God who loves us, supplies all of that, and more, in the form of His Son, Jesus Christ!
To have Jesus that provides salvation, freedom from our debt of sin, and help day by day and a promise of heaven.
To be able to read the mind of God on the printed page, "the Bible."
To be able to talk to almighty God about anything thru prayer, giving thanks or making a request.
Ahhhh yes I am grateful, ALL year long, and we are, a blessed people!!!
