A friend tapped my thoughts today... Subject- "No Regrets" Life is Short & we should NEVER put off till tomorrow those things we should do today!! For sure!
....Back in the day.. haha Families lived close, stayed close. Only the man worked, and growing up as a child had little worries & cares. Life was simpler. We had what we needed, and didn't covet a lot of "things."
...We were always "together" daily, holidays, when in need, helping each other & our neighbors.
...As I grew up and married, twas still pretty much the same. we were allowed to *be* children. Growing up took time. We never got things just by wanting, or fussing Or Before folks thought we were ready for them. We became adults sooner than now.. simply because we were given responsibilities and expected to fulfill them.
.... The "togetherness" as families changed as times changed and people began moving away from the family neighborhood. AND YET we still kept close contact and that concept carried over into our lives. We wrote Letters, when phones came into our lives we made phone calls & tried to not tie up the line, in case someone on the party line needed to use the phone.
... Tho people did not move really far away, it sure seemed it was forever to get there in the cars we had.
... Thru the years of our married life Bud & I kept up the cards/letters, calls, & visits. Be it across town or from one corner of the states to another.
Some would be planned visits, others pop in's as we passed by, and letter became blessed contacts. From friends in the Marines, Aunt's that had poor handwriting and in time it got even worse. As the Aunt's & Uncle;s aged the visits especially, became a blessing. Talking over old times, family history, things we each liked to do, and so much more.
.... Iam blessed & grateful for those planned visit's & passing by pop-ins. Who would have know that in a few short weeks many would have died after that last visit? Some were sort of expected, others real shockers!
I am so very glad we made it a point NOT "to put off until tomorrow, when something should be done today!" As tomorrow may never come. Oh the stories I could tell.
Oh the fun we experience just being together and loving, sharing,and accepting & forgiving & growing closer thru the years. No one is perfect & till you walk in their shoes knowing & learning things we can never be sure of what we are missing. "For it is in giving that we receive" Boy have I found that to be true~ who will take the first step to build that bridge & get over things.
.... A lovely day here just pondering each person on both sides or our family, & the wonderful relations we cultivated thru the years.
... Some people will not respond & push you away, but as much as it is in our power to accept people & cultivate unity & good relationships is all that's expected of me.
For those that refuse, and much time has passed all I can say is.. "My OH MY what you have missed with your family or friend. You will never know and may be sorry for later.. or maybe not, but I can tell of all the things you missed, having been on the other road all our lives.
