Finances Or No Finances...

 Hi there Dear Blog,
Been awhile... But the mind has been a *Meandering* today for sure...
I truly am more listener than speaker... but I do let my fingers & keyboard speak my thoughts a lot of the time...
We are truly several generations of not able to say NO to a lot of things. I seem to notice that a lot anymore.  How sad that is, and how not good for us to have little to no restraint. Discipline is in short supple to it seems...
We are an entitled folk it seems. Sad...
We seem not to be able to check ourselves on a lot of things.  "NO" seems a lost word to our vocabulary to ourselves or our loved ones. hmm
There were 7 years of our first married life that we scrimped and did without a lot... Started out in rented apartments with 2nd hand furniture, and buying only what we really *needed.*  But we were happy! Nothing hanging over our heads and great crazy memories..  Then we got our first vacation!! OH Wow!!  Bud said, we are going to do this every year, and it will be in our budget. And it was, And we did!! We were frugal about a lot of things ... just to do the things we really wanted to.  I remember the kids in the store one time at the toy counter, Mike wanted something and Kathy in her outside voice says..."No need to ask, you know she'll just tell you WE CAN'T AFFORD IT!"  hahaha
We could have, but... we were watching where the monies went to get our meager Christmas and then our meager vacations. But they were special!! And got more and better as time went... and salary improved... Still we budgeted, saved, prioritised, and ended up owing no one anything.  What peace of mind, and we have been from one end of this country north & south, east & west... The places we've been, the people we stopped to see along our way... and did it till just this last year!!
3 kids and a dog and us!!! lol & later just us.
Food, don't waste it... You take it you eat it! And we *will* try something new more than once... besides God made it and it's good for you!  One rounded plate of variety and hoping to grow strong kids too.  3 squares and a snack! lol  Sweets? Not many! AND that is what the Dietician put Bud on when he came down with the family diabetes problem.  Only she gave him one more snack.  Not hard for him or me... lol
How much of any one thing do we really need? Shopping shopping shopping seems to be the thing of the day too. Change this!! Change that!  Why? is it still not functional? Oh.. sorry guess we don't take care of things very well either... or we tire? of things? hmmm
For me as a Christian, raised by frugal, God loving/fearing Mom Gulley... not much today would wash as being good stewards of God's supply... nor being in debt.  When the big things of life hit you, and they will, you better be prepared in advance. The *Rainy Day* thing happens to all of us in some way or another... AND the Giving to the Lord and his concerns, church, benevolance, missions, etc.. Always come first. Robbing Peter to pay Paul will only work for a short time and pretty soon we get in trouble with Peter & Paul.  :-)
Why are we soooo afraid to say NO.. to ourselves? our children? God's not afraid to say no to us, when it's something that will hurt us, harm us, or mess us up down the road. There have been times when we really wanted to do something that we just had to say no. Can't do that. We survived and didn't die. lol

Surely, we can use the good common sense he gave us with his help can't we?
Most of these thoughts, ideas, & disciplines or principles, if not all, are in the Bible and you know that don't ya? Sure ya do. :-)
Ahhh, the simple life, is the best life. With God at the helm this ship should continue to sail on quite well in Peace & Contentment.
